HENDERSONVILLE — Seminarians Daniel Chaves Peña and Juan González Hernández, both from Immaculate Conception Parish in Hendersonville, were admitted to candidacy for holy orders Nov. 28 in preparation for their upcoming ordination as deacons for the Diocese of Charlotte.

Presiding over the Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders was Father Adrian Porras, vicar forane of the Asheville Vicariate, who was delegated by Bishop Michael Martin.

In his homily, Father Porras reflected on the sacrament of holy orders as a lifelong commitment to serving the People of God.

Holy orders is “a reflection of Christ’s love,” he said, “a giving of oneself to others.”

Chaves and González, along with Hendersonville native James Tweed, will be ordained next Saturday, Dec. 6, as they continue their formation to the priesthood. Read more about them.
