HIGH POINT — Extra, extra, read all about it! Come one, come all to the premiere of Newsies Jr. The musical will bring the hustle and bustle of the late 19th-century Manhattan streets alive through song and dance.
“This is such a fun but not well-known musical based on the real strike in 1899 of the newsboys,” said Julie Ray, St. Pius X schoolteacher and theater director. “It is inspirational.”
This is the first production for the St. Genesius Troupe, which started this year. The cast includes students from Bishop McGuinness High School in Kernersville, Immaculate Heart of Mary School in High Point, and St. Pius X School in Greensboro.
The production will be 7 p.m. Nov. 19 and 20 at the High Point Theatre. Tickets are available through the High Point Theatre box office at https://tinyurl.com/sm7tbz48
