CHARLOTTE —El Miércoles de Ceniza marcó el inicio del tiempo penitencial de la Cuaresma.
Fue un día de ayuno, abstinencia y oración mientras los católicos preparaban sus corazones y mentes para un camino espiritual durante los próximos 40 días que conducen al Domingo de Pascua.
En toda la Diócesis de Charlotte, miles de personas acudieron para recibir la ceniza, un signo visible de nuestra frágil humanidad y de que todos somos pecadores necesitados de un Salvador.
En un mensaje en redes sociales y radio con motivo del Miércoles de Ceniza, el obispo Michael Martin, OFM Conv., exhortó a las personas a pasar de ser simplemente creyentes a convertirse en discípulos dispuestos a llevar el mensaje de Jesús al mundo: “Mi llamado a todos los cristianos, en particular a los católicos de nuestra diócesis aquí, es que utilicen estos 40 días para profundizar un poco más y ver si están abiertos a explorar una relación más profunda con Cristo en la Iglesia a través del discipulado.”
