Find a pet blessing in the Diocese of Charlotte
CHARLOTTE — God’s creatures bring us companionship, comfort and plenty of joy, and each year pet parents across the Diocese of Charlotte have an opportunity to bring their beloved animals to our sacred spaces for a special blessing.
In celebration of the Oct. 4 Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, parishes throughout the diocese will host Blessing of Animals events this fall.
Events already scheduled include:
- St. Matthew Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte. Noon Saturday, Oct. 3, in the parish center parking lot. Animals should be safely secured on a leash or in a carrier/cage for the wellbeing of all attendees. Weather permitting.
- St. Gabriel Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte. 10 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Marian grotto (school parking lot). Short outdoor blessing; please arrive on time. Weather permitting.
- Sacred Heart Church, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury. 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, by the flagpoles.
- St. Frances of Rome Mission, 29 Highland Drive, Sparta. 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, outside at the Blessed Virgin Mary Grotto.
- St. John Neumann Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte. 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the courtyard.
- St. Mark Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville. 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in front of the church.
- St. Francis of Assisi Church, 167 St. Francis Place, Jefferson. 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, outside on the lower level. Please don’t forget top bring any pet essentials to help keep things tidy.
- Our Lady of the Assumption, 4207 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte. 10:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, outside the church.
