CHARLOTTE — Bishop Michael Martin, OFM Conv., has announced several additional priest assignments in the Diocese of Charlotte, including the appointment of a second vocations promoter, five parochial administrators who will become pastors, and two religious-order priests taking up ministry in the diocese.
The assignments are:
Effective Aug. 1, Father Juan Miguel Sanchez has been appointed a Promoter of Vocations, joining Father Brian Becker to serve the diocese’s growing vocations program. Vocations promoters help individuals discern and explore God’s call to the priesthood or consecrated religious life. He will also continue as priest-secretary to Bishop Michael Martin.
Father Reji Joseph, OSFS, has been appointed parochial vicar of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in High Point, effective Aug. 15.
Effective Sept. 1, the following parochial administrators will become pastors:
- Father Marcel Amadi, Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Charlotte
- Father Stephen Hoyt, St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Morganton
- Father Elliott Suttle, St. Mary Help of Christians Parish in Shelby and Christ the King Mission in Kings Mountain
- Father Ramiro Tijerino, St. Joseph Parish in Asheboro
- Father Anthony Mbanefo, M.S.P., St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Mars Hill and Sacred Heart Mission in Burnsville
Effective Sept. 9, Father Stephen Grozio, C.M., has been assigned to priestly ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Charlotte, replacing Father Diogenes Arauz Gonzalez, C.M., who is moving to a new assignment with his order.
The new appointments follow the annual priest assignments announced in May, most of which took effect July 1.
