Deacon HindbaughCHARLOTTE — Bishop Michael Martin, OFM Conv., announces the appointment of Deacon Charles “Chuck” Hindbaugh as spiritual advisor to the Diocese of Charlotte Catholic Scouting program, effective March 10, 2026.
Ordained in 2021, Deacon Hindbaugh serves at Our Lady of the Americas Parish in Biscoe. He and his wife Mary are originally from Michigan and moved to North Carolina in 2008.
Deacon Hindbaugh succeeds Deacon Martin Ricart III, who is retiring after serving nearly 12 years as spiritual advisor to the Catholic scouting program.
“I was active as a Cub Scout when I was young, and I love the fact that I’m coming back to Scouting,” he said. “I look forward to helping our young people better understand their faith.”
Deacon Hindbaugh formally began his duties at the 2026 Catholic Camporee on April 17-19, assisting at the concluding Mass and being introduced to Scouts and their families.
The Catholic Scouting program is overseen by the Charlotte Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting.
