ROME — Charlotte seminarian Deacon Peter Ascik (front row, fifth from left) was ordained to the transitional diaconate by Cardinal Sean O’Malley at Mass Sept. 29 at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Deacon Ascik is the son of Tom and Karen Ascik and is a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in Arden.
He is expected to be ordained to the priesthood next June with the diocese’s four other deacons, who are studying at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Ohio.
